Dr. Sergio Suarez, DMD
About
Sergio Suarez grew up in Belmond, Iowa, where he proudly graduated from Belmond-Klemme High School. After graduating from high school, he attended Des Moines Area Community College for a year before attending the University of Northern Iowa, where he found success in Biology.
He majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry, graduating with Magna Cum Laude in 2022. His love for the field of dentistry sparked when he was a senior in high school. After a semester of shadowing his hometown dentist, he knew that dentistry was the career path that he was destined for.
Sergio graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2026. He enjoyed pathology, so he took an elective in Oral Pathology Clinical Pathological Correlation. While attending dental school, he was very active in his professional fraternity (GO PSI-O), where they would volunteer, express their efforts to promote good oral hygiene, and raise money for events such as People’s Center Dental Clinic.
In his free time, Sergio enjoys watching football, hanging out with his friends, playing cribbage, thinking of good “Would You Rather” questions, and staying active by going on long walks. Sergio also spends countless hours trying to understand why the Vikings haven’t made it to the Super Bowl since the 70’s.
Sergio is extremely proud of his father, Yoni, who immigrated from Peru and started a new life from scratch. His mother, Lianne, proudly served as a nurse and interpreter for the Belmond Clinic and Hospital for decades before retiring. Sergio is additionally proud of his brother, Gustavo, who is currently in medical school at the University of Creighton School of Medicine.
